Kerry and Rob Married at Sandon Hall Staffordshire
So the spring and summer edition of Staffordshire bride came through the studio door the other day, when I opened it I spotted Kerry and Rob’s wedding one I photographed at Sandon Hall.
Originally I was booked for their wedding date but the bride that I had originally booked needed to move her date to the following year so I was able to photograph Kerry and Robs wedding.
I had also photographed the family a few years prior to the wedding so was so pleased I could do this for them.
During the service Rob had everyone in stiches as I think the nerves had got to him and he lost all ability to say his lines. We got there in the end though…phew!
We had decided prior to the wedding that most of the photography would be done a Robs parents’ home in Hixon, this is a beautiful family home and grade II listed building with stunning gardens.
Kerry and Rob had also put up a marquee in the grounds for afternoon tea followed by the evening reception with music provided by the Cartoon Kings. Kerry and Rob kept everything pretty relaxed and informal throughout the day. It was a pleasure to document the day for them and I hope the images will provide a lifetime of wonderful memories.
A few images from the day……………

Weston Hall Winter Wedding
Weston Hall is a stunning wedding venue and one I have worked at a number of times. Located in the heart of the Staffordshire Countryside, Weston Hall is a beautiful grade II* listed building surrounded by 20 acres of breathtaking scenery. The Hall also retains many of its Elizabethan features including open stone fireplaces and oak beams in many of the rooms.
Stuart & Danni had booked me to photograph up until the first dance in the evening; I think most couples now go for this coverage as it helps tell the full story of the wedding day, from the bridal preparations in the morning, right through to the evening and first dance. This is also a great time to get out and take the night time photographs that I often get asked for, particularly at Weston hall as they have all those pretty lights that line the drive leading up the venue and on the terrace that make for beautiful images.
I’m currently shooting a lot more Black and White too, I love Black and White photography especially for documentary and storytelling images, they’re so timeless and elegant.
Finally, I still have a number of weddings to add to this blog from Weston Hall over the Christmas period so keep checking back to see more or head over to my Facebook page and check out some more recent work.
Stuart and Danni’s was one my last Winter Weddings of 2014, it’s always a pleasure to return to such a beautiful venue.
Thanks for looking…..

THE MOAT HOUSE WINTER WEDDINGS
Kay and Matthew booked me for their winter wedding photography at The Moat House in Acton Trussell, a wedding venue that I have been fortunate enough to work at many times over the years.
I love all the different photographic opportunities this venue offers me throughout the seasons, and I’m always looking for something slightly different and unique for each couple that book me and entrust me to document their special day.
The Marriage
Kay and Matthew’s service was held in the Colin Lewis Suite. Dating back to the 14th century, The Colin Lewis Suite retains its medieval charm with exposed oak beams and inglenook fireplace.
After the service we had a walk around the grounds, I knew we hadn’t got much time as the weather was on the cold side and I didn’t want the bride outside too long.
The Evening
After documenting the speeches, first dance and evening guest we headed back outside for 10 minutes to get some evening photographs, it was a clear night and the sky was full of stars, a perfect end to a perfect day.
Spring Wedding Showcase
If you are in the midst of booking your wedding venue then it would be well worth a visit to the Moat house this coming Sunday 22nd February as they will be holding their spring wedding showcase. The doors open at 11am and close at 3pm.
And finally a selection of images from Kay and Mathews Winter Wedding

THE HEATH HOUSE
Heath house Wedding
I photographed Sam & Helens wedding last year on what felt like the hottest day of the year, the sun was blazing down all day and was perfect weather for the outdoor ceremony. The heath house is surrounded by 125-acre parkland and this includes an old walled kitchen garden and former stables.
Outside ceremony
The outside ceremony took place in the delightful Regency orangery that overlooks a sunken rose garden with clipped box hedging and stone balustrades, just a perfect location for a civil ceremony. After the service the bride, groom and guests made their way to the rest of the gardens at the rear of the Heath House for drinks and canapés on the lawn.
Inside The heath House
Although we had the most amazing weather I still felt we needed some images inside the house, the décor and architecture is stunning and I really wanted to capture some of these important elements for them, the bride in her dress with the backdrop of a grand staircase is something I couldn’t leave out.
The Coverage
Sam & Helen booked me to document the day from the bridal preparations in the morning through to the first dance in the evening, I also photographed this wedding on my birthday and ironically I will be at the heath house again this year on my birthday, lets hope we get the same weather.
Please feel free to get in touch if you are looking for a photographer for your special day.

Justine & James wedding day at Rookery Hall Cheshire
Rookery Hall in Cheshire was the chosen venue for Justine and James wedding day.
With its romantic fountain lawn, wonderful gardens, beautiful architecture, stunning views and stylish banqueting suites, it is hard to imagine a more perfect wedding venue in Cheshire than Rookery Hall Hotel & Spa.
Set in 38 acres of lawns and gardens in the Cheshire countryside, this Georgian Manor House offers a contemporary and stylish wedding breakfast room for up to 160 guests featuring floor to ceiling windows with uninterrupted views across the grounds.
The Wardle Suite
The civil ceremony took place in the Wardle Suite at Rookery Hall; the Wardle suite is situated on the ground floor and with wall to ceiling windows overlooking some fantastic view across the Cheshire countryside…
It was a pleasure to photograph Justine and James’s wedding, we managed to get lots of natural and candid images throughout the day, booking me until the evening also helped with this as it’s a great way for me to also capture some of the guests that cannot be there in the daytime.
You may also remember Rookery hall from a certain David Beckham.
David Beckham and Victoria Adams got engaged at Rookery Hall in 1998.The hotel management gave the couple an engagement cake depicting Rookery Hall with the couple sitting on top of it, which was later auctioned to benefit Goostrey Primary School.
Here is a selection of images form a fantastic day at Rookery Hall
Thanks for looking.

Weston Hall
Clare & David’s Autumn Wedding at Weston Hall Stafford
Last year I was fortunate enough to photograph a number of weddings at Weston Hall, A venue I love working at and one with so many great photographic opportunities.
It’s also handy because Weston Hall is the closest wedding venue to my house, so I can be found there from time to time enjoying a meal and relaxing with family and friends, and great food it is too.
David and Clare had chosen Weston Hall as their wedding venue for an autumn wedding and apart from one small shower we had good weather for most of the day.
I have known David since we were 5 years old at primary school (yeah that long!)And when he asked me to photograph his wedding I couldn’t have been more pleased.
Pre wedding meeting
I always meet up with couples around 4 weeks prior to a wedding to discuss any particular images they want me to capture; I tend to shoot a mixed style of documentary ,relaxed and informal images along with some of the romantic, creative and dusk photographs. I find this gives a wedding album a good mixture of images. The brief from David & Clare was simple, few groups and capture the day and guests naturally. Group photo’s are something that need careful consideration, we understand you will want some of those important family groups, but you also need to keep in mind they can eat into your time, so planing is everything and not having a huge list of groups. We try and advise on 5 to 6 max, This way you can get the key images you have requested but more importantly enjoy your day, trust me no one wants to stand around for hours whilst endless groups are being photographed.
A bit about Weston Hall
Weston Hall is located in the heart of Staffordshire countryside, it is a magnificent grade 11* listed building surrounded by 20 acres of breath taking scenery. The Hall retains many of its Elizabethan features including open stone fireplaces and oak beams in many of the rooms. It has elegant decor throughout and is a truly magical setting for you and your guest to enjoy.
Looking at my bookings for 2015 and 2016 it looks like I will be visiting Weston Hall a few more time yet, so keep checking back for more images.
Thanks for looking….
